A little introduction to Kitchen Notes and the philosophy behind Little Stroud Loaf.
As I found myself diving deeper into the design and setup of the new Little Stroud Loaf website, I realised just how much this little bakery had slowly grown into something much bigger than I ever imagined.
What started as a love of sourdough and a desire to make nourishing bread for my own family has blossomed into a beautiful little microbakery, a place to teach others through workshops, and now a space to share more of the story behind our kitchen.
Alongside the bakery and workshops, I wanted somewhere I could share glimpses into our own family sourdough and homestead kitchen, the meals we make, the ways we use what we bake and grow, and the simple rhythms that have become such an important part of how we feed our family.
Sourdough has become a wonderful and significant part of our family’s story, but this philosophy extends far beyond bread.
Food has always been at the heart of our home
Food has always been at the heart of every home we have lived in. From our humble beginnings in a small apartment in Queanbeyan, NSW, to our years living in Germany, and now here in Stroud, the kitchen has always been a place of connection, creativity and care.
I have always been passionate about understanding what goes into the food we eat. There is something incredibly empowering about knowing the ingredients, understanding the process, and having a say in the quality of what we feed our bodies. It is something I hope to pass on to my children too, the importance of caring about where our food comes from and appreciating the work and love that goes into creating it.

Make Sourdough a simple part of your life.
If maintaining your starter is taking up too much headspace, it’s time to rethink your rhythm.
The Stiff Starter Method shares the simple approach I use each week to keep our family supplied with nourishing sourdough bread — without the stress.
More than just sourdough
Sourdough has become a wonderful and significant part of that journey. It has taught me patience, connected me more deeply with the food we eat, and given our family a simple way to slow down and enjoy the process of making something together.
But this philosophy extends far beyond sourdough.
Here I’ll share how sourdough fits into our family’s life, from simple meals and seasonal cooking, to the everyday ways we use wholesome ingredients to nourish the people we love.
Why Kitchen Notes?
I chose the name Kitchen Notes because this space is about more than just recipes. It’s about the little things that happen in a kitchen — the meals we make on busy evenings, the ideas scribbled down after something turns out especially good, the lessons we learn along the way, and the traditions we create with our families.
What you’ll find here
Just like a handwritten recipe passed down through generations, kitchen notes are a collection of moments, ideas and discoveries.
I hope this space feels like a chat across the kitchen bench. A place to share, learn and be inspired to create more connection through food.
Welcome to my kitchen
